16th and 17th October at Bilbao Exhibition Centre
Egurtek, the Forum for Architecture and Construction in Wood, is preparing its 10th edition; it is one of the most outstanding international events in the field of architecture and construction in wood. A leading event which, on 16 and 17 October, will reaffirm its commitment to promoting sustainable use of wood and will provide great opportunities for commercial and knowledge exchange.
The possibilities offered by this material will be demonstrated over the two days of the Conference, the only one in Spain devoted exclusively to architecture and wood. During the event, distinguished and renowned experts will present their outstanding work, offering their unique perspective on innovations and trends in the field. Egurtek has brought together architects as prestigious as Shigeru Ban, Michael Green, Sou Fujimoto, Alex de Rijke, Alvaro Siza, Cazu Zegers, Marcel Baumgartner, Alpo Ranta Maunus and Georg Wolfgang Reinberg, among many others.
At the same time, attendees at Egurtek will find the most avant-garde solutions and the latest trends in wood construction in the Expo Zone. This space will be attended by more than fifty exhibiting firms, both Spanish and foreign, which will offer a comprehensive overview of the state of the sector. These companies will present a wide range of products and services regarding aspects such as architecture, wood house construction, wood treatments, sustainable construction, engineering and decoration, wood for construction, structural software and import of wood, elements and materials. Moreover, to accentuate the innovative nature of the event, the Expo Zone will have a Speakers’ Corner, where representatives of the exhibiting companies will give brief presentations on the main innovations they are bringing to the forum.
The Egurtek Technical Conferences will be held alongside the Expo Zone. Organised by the Basque Wood Association, BASKEGUR, this conference will offer a detailed overview of the work of various European projects related to wood construction in which the organisation is involved.
To round off two days of intense activity, the Egurtek Awards will be presented; they will highlight and recognise the best work in various categories such as building, interior and product design, among others.
The 20th edition of Egurtek is organised by Bilbao Exhibition Centre and is sponsored by the Basque Government’s Department of Economic Development, Sustainability and the Environment, in collaboration with Baskegur- the Basque Wood Association and the Basque-Navarre Official College of Architects.
