12:00-13:00. WORKSHOP THRIVE: new opportunities for hardwood

How can we make better use of the potential of hardwood? What barriers do we need to overcome, and what solutions can we promote within the sector?

Baskegur is organising a co-creation workshop as part of the European THRIVE project, co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg Sudoe programme.

THRIVE brings together organisations from Spain, France and Portugal to boost the utilisation of hardwood, encourage active forest management and promote new applications, particularly in the construction sector.

Following a brief presentation of the project, we will work together to identify new ways of adding value, pinpoint barriers and propose solutions, with a particular focus on species such as oak, Pyrenean oak, holm oak, eucalyptus, beech and chestnut.

The event is aimed particularly at those with experience in the forestry and timber sector who are interested in sharing knowledge and ideas with other professionals. Prior knowledge of broadleaf timber will be an advantage, although anyone with an interest and a willingness to participate is welcome.

Practical information:

  • Venue: Luxua Pavilion
  • Language: Spanish. As this is an international event, the proceedings may be adapted to English, French, Basque or Portuguese depending on the communication needs expressed.

12:00 – 13:30. Participatory workshop on ORCELAN, a new bio-based insulation solution developed as part of the European INGUMA project

How can we reduce the environmental impact of buildings without compromising on the technical performance required by modern construction?

We invite you to take part in a workshop aimed at professionals in the construction sector.

During the event, we will be presenting ORCELAN, a new generation of self-supporting insulation panels that are 100% bio-based and 100% recyclable, manufactured exclusively from cellulose fibres and without any polymeric binders.

We invite you to a presentation and discussion session where you can learn about the solution first-hand, exchange experiences and share your views on its potential applications and current market needs.

ORCELAN was created to address a dual challenge: improving the energy performance of buildings and reducing their environmental impact. The solution is the result of an R&D process that combines the technology developed by TECNALIA with ORLOGA’s expertise in process engineering and industrialisation. Furthermore, it is being developed in collaboration with GARNICA, an international leader in poplar plywood sourced from sustainable sources, to drive progress towards new industrialised construction solutions.

This event is taking place as part of the European INGUMA project, funded by the European Union, in which TECNALIA, ORLOGA, GARNICA and BASKEGUR are working together to drive the development and validation of this innovative solution.

Practical information:

  • Venue: Luxua Pavilion, BEC – Bilbao Exhibition Centre (stands B16 and B18).
  • Language: Spanish, with the possibility of adaptation to other languages if necessary.
  • Price: free of charge
  • Participation: advance registration is compulsory by completing this form.
