Circular forest economy and the Basajaun project, protagonists today at the Technical Conferences

Organised by BASKEGUR, the Basque Wood Association, the Egurtek Technical Workshops have begun today with the participation of the main agents working in wood architecture and construction.

The first of the two blocks of the workshop offered an in-depth insight into the Basque Government’s strategy to promote the Circular Forest Economy. The forum was attended by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Policy, Bittor Oroz, and featured the participation of various companies that are developing new R&D projects.

The afternoon session focused on the Basajaun project, which is led by Tecnalia and which aims to optimise wood construction chains to promote rural development and urban transformation based on sustainable forest management. Thanks to the work with leading agents at European level, new products have been obtained for testing in two pilot buildings in North Karelia and Aquitaine, which will make it possible to determine their effectiveness over time.

Within the Basajaun project, Baskegur has been responsible for preparing a report on the state of wood construction in the regions participating in the project: the Basque Country, two regions of Finland, North Karelia and a region of Poland.

The Baso Egur Hezkuntza Sarea (BEHS) and Eguralt projects are the two topics to be discussed during the Technical Seminar to be held tomorrow.
