EGURTEK, the International Forum on Wood Architecture and Construction, which will take place from 28 to 29 October at BEC, has opened the call for entries for the eighth edition of its awards. This initiative recognises the best proposals for the use of wood and highlights the talent, creativity and innovation of professionals in the sector.

Since their inception in 2012, these awards have established themselves as a benchmark, recognising projects that stand out for their architectural quality, contribution to responsible development and ability to integrate timber as an essential element of design, thereby fostering debate and raising public awareness of the potential of this strategic material for sustainable construction.

The competition, for which the technical secretariat is managed by COAVN, the Official Association of Architects of the Basque Country and Navarre, is structured into three main categories: Building, aimed at new-build projects, refurbishments or urban interventions; Interior Design, focused on interior space projects or temporary installations; and Product Design, dedicated to innovative objects, furniture or systems developed with sustainability and creativity in mind.

Furthermore, the Egurtek Awards include three special distinctions that reinforce their commitment to the region and the dissemination of knowledge: the Local Timber Award (Basque Quality), which recognises the significant use of native species; the Bois/Egurra/Madera (BEM) Award, intended for projects promoted by public administrations in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine–Euskadi–Navarre Euroregion; and the Dissemination Award, which recognises communication work that helps to promote the value of wood in any medium.

Entries may be submitted until 4 May at 12:00 noon, and all information regarding the rules, required documentation and registration process is available on the Egurtek website. The finalists will be announced in June 2026, coinciding with the opening of the exhibition of panels displaying the submitted works, whilst the awards ceremony will take place during a special event at the close of the first day of the event in October.
